How much is the ticket?
An adult ticket for someone outside of Costa Rica is 13 USD (no tax included).
Park opening hours
The park is open 8am-4pm, however the last hour at which entry is possible is 2pm.
Are guides mandatory?
There is no need for renting a guide during the park’s sightseeing. All the trails are marked.
How much time is needed for park sightseeing?
The minimum time for a park tour is around 2 hours, however I recommend booking more time to see everything.
What is the best time to sightsee?
If you want to see the cone of Tenorio volcano, I recommend reaching the park right after opening. The later you go, the bigger the chance that it will be clouded. Additionally, early morning hours mean less chance of rainfall.
The Celeste River
The Celeste River has a beautiful blue color thanks to a mix of various waters, which have different chemical composition. Unfortunately, you will not be able to admire this color when it is cloudy.
The trial in the park
At the beginning, the route is not very demanding, but the most tiring part is the descent to the Celeste waterfall and the way back. The trail leading to the beginning of the Celeste river can be difficult at times for people with a questionable condition, however there is plenty of space around to have a rest. Unfortunately, only one place (right before descent to the waterfall) has some benches that one can sit on.
Is Tenorio Volcano National Park worth visiting?
Tenorio Volcano National Park was one of my favorite parks in Costa Rica. The trail was quite demanding, but the views compensated for every bit of fatigue. The waterfall on a beautiful Celeste river is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my entire life. I strongly recommend a trip to this park!
